What:
A Night showcasing the creative talent of Muslims in Edmonton .
An opportunity to raise money for the Islamic Family Social Service Agency (IFSSA).

Why:
Encourage Muslims to be creative and have a space to showcase that creativity.
Showcase the creative side of Muslims and counter misguided stereotypes through artwork, poetry, and music.
Beyond Borders provides a forum for dialogue through art exhibitions and performances.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR SUBMISSIONS

Guidelines for Submissions:
*non-Muslims are welcome to submit as well*


Photography:
-Up to five pictures can be submitted for display at the showcase.
-Must be your own work
- A brief description must be provided for each photo.
-Artists have the choice to sell their artwork as part of a silent auction, where proceeds will go to charity (IFSSA)


Artwork:
- Up to five pieces can be submitted for display at the showcase.
-Digital artwork and sculptures may also be submitted.
-A brief description must be provided for each piece.
- Artists have the choice to sell their artwork as part of a silent auction, where proceeds will go to charity (IFSSA)

Poetry:
- Up to three poems can be submitted for the showcase.
-Poems can be either displayed or performed live (up to the individual)

Live Performance:

- In addition to spoken poetry, any other form of live performance (i.e: music, drama,short story,performance art, etc.) may be submitted for the event.
-Live performances should be between 5 to 7 minutes.

***Important Submission Information***


All applicants will be emailed with more information with regards to where/when/how to drop of their artwork after August 30, 2008.


All applicants are responsible for the setup and take down of their artwork.

All applicants are responsible for the presentation of their artwork. Frames, display cases, etc. will NOT be provided.

Display space (including tables, easels, etc.) will be provided.

For any live performances using musical instruments, applicants must provide their own instrument.

A P.A. system will be available.
